Display Upgrade Experiments
Thinking about upgrading your screen's resolution, brightness, or refresh rate? We understand the desire to enhance your display, but these upgrades must be approached with caution.
We understand that many users want to go from 60Hz to 144Hz, 165Hz to 240Hz, or improve screen clarity from FHD to QHD or 4K. While these upgrades can work, they must be approached with caution.
What You Should Know Before Upgrading
Same Connector ≠ Guaranteed Compatibility
Just because two screens use the same 30-pin or 40-pin connector does not mean they're fully compatible. Important system factors like:
- BIOS restrictions
- EDID and firmware
- Graphics card support
- Motherboard limitations
…can all affect upgrade success.
What We Need From You
Before we assist, please provide:
- Your original screen's full part number
- The part number of the display you want to upgrade to
- Your machine's full model/series (e.g., HP OMEN 17-ck1000)
What We'll Do
Once we have your info:
-
Warehouse Check : If we have both parts in stock, our warehouse team will physically compare the connectors and confirm if they appear the same.

-
Connection Status Email : You'll receive a response from us confirming whether the connection appears to match and if there's any past success related to your upgrade.

The Risks of Unrealistic Display Upgrade Experiments
Recently, we've seen a rise in customers attempting extreme screen upgrades—such as switching from standard LCDs to Mini LED or OLED—without verifying essential factors like data connector type, resolution compatibility, or panel technology.
These upgrade experiments are often based on guesswork or advice from online forums rather than proper hardware knowledge. It's like trying to become a professional boxer by watching YouTube—you're likely to get hurt.
Important Reminder:
- Even if two screens look similar, the internal connections and technology can be very different.
- Failing to match core specs like resolution, connector layout, or display type (IPS vs OLED vs Mini LED) can result in serious damage to your machine.
- Most display experts have a background in electrical or computer engineering. Trial-and-error based on internet opinions isn't a substitute for experience.
We respect our customers' curiosity and initiative, but we cannot support or assume liability for hardware damage caused by unverified upgrade attempts.
Please consult us before experimenting. We're happy to help check compatibility when proper part numbers and serials are provided.
Bliss Computers supports the DIY and enthusiast community — but upgrades are at your own risk. We're happy to assist with part number matching and connector verification, but we recommend you research your upgrade thoroughly before proceeding.
