Why you may need an exact screen part number

Most laptops work with more than one screen part number. But some customers must have one exact number. Here is why:

  1. Software needs it. Some software checks the screen it runs on. With a different screen part number, the software may not work as it should.
  2. The machine is picky. Some machines only run with the exact screen part number they came with. Another number can give a blank screen, wrong colors or no brightness control.
  3. Company rules ask for it. Your organization or business may only allow the original screen part number. Then a screen that only fits is not enough.
  4. Other numbers did not work. You may have tried other screen part numbers, or sub part numbers, from other vendors. If they did not work, the exact number is the safe choice.

Why an exact screen part number can cost more

Few customers need an exact screen part number. Most customers choose a screen part number that is easy to find on the market. Those screens are more likely from a new batch, and we buy them in bulk.

We do not keep every exact screen part number on our shelf. We buy it only when a customer asks for it.

Buying in bulk keeps the price of the market screen part number low. An exact screen part number is bought separately, for one customer.

So its price can be higher than the price of a sub part number screen that fits the same laptop.

Exact screen parts may also need separate customs clearance. We always tell you the price before you order.

Newer or older revision?

One screen part number can come in more than one revision, for example .0, .1 or .7 at the end.

Makers release a newer revision to fix problems that technicians and customers reported. So the newer revision is usually the better one.

Your machine maker may also move to the newer revision later.
